About
Solie Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 3301 Colby Avenue in Everett, Washington, has been a cornerstone of compassionate care in Snohomish County since its founding in 1940. As the only family-owned and operated funeral home in Everett, it prides itself on a tradition of personalized, dignified service that spans over 80 years. The history of Solie Funeral Home began when Lloyd Solie and his father, H.J. Solie, an immigrant pioneer of Everett, announced plans to build a mortuary on Colby Avenue. Working with architects Alvin Erickson and Howard Tollefson, the facility was designed with care and opened its doors to serve families in 1940. Lloyd Solie was known for his good heart, kind ways, and genuine tenderness toward grieving families, and he brought his Norwegian heritage into the community. In 1974, he formed a partnership with Paul Lorentzen, and after both men passed—Lloyd in 1996 and Paul in 1999—the Lorentzen family continued the legacy of family traditions. Today, Solie Funeral Home remains the only independent funeral home in Everett and the only one in Snohomish County that owns and operates an on-premise crematory, which was built in June 2000 and designed to accommodate traditional witness cremations. Families take special comfort knowing their loved one never leaves the care of the staff.
