About
Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Home, Inc. has been a pillar of the Burlington, Vermont community for generations, offering compassionate funeral and cremation services from its historic location at 85 North Winooski Avenue. Established as a trusted, family-operated funeral home, it has long provided dignified care for those experiencing loss, serving families with respect, empathy, and professional expertise. The home is renowned for its personalized approach, helping families create meaningful ceremonies that honor the unique lives of their loved ones. Services include traditional funerals, cremation options, and support for grief and memorial planning, all delivered with attention to cultural, religious, and budgetary preferences.
In January 2023, after more than five decades of devoted service, Carol 'Carrie' Pritchard—the longtime owner and guiding force of Boucher and Pritchard—announced her retirement. Recognizing the need for continued care, she entrusted the legacy of the funeral home to the Ready family, a well-established name in Vermont funeral service since 1880. The transition was a natural fit: Michele Ready Ambrosino and John Ambrosino, operators of Ready Funeral and Cremation Services, pledged to preserve the traditions and community trust that Carrie Pritchard had built over 50 years. As part of this arrangement, Boucher and Pritchard became a division of the Ready family, now known as the Boucher & Pritchard Chapel of Ready Funeral and Cremation Services. Carrie Pritchard and longtime Jewish funeral director Shimmy Cohen remain involved as guides, ensuring continuity of care and the high standards that the Burlington community has come to expect.
The funeral home itself is wheelchair accessible, with on-site parking, and provides a warm, welcoming environment for families to gather and begin their grief journey. Obituaries and resources are available online through the Ready family network, and staff are experienced in planning services that reflect a wide range of traditions and preferences. The facility is also known for its role in Jewish funeral customs, as Vermont’s only Jewish licensed funeral director formerly worked here.
Today, Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Home continues to serve Burlington and surrounding areas under the Ready family umbrella, combining over 140 years of combined experience with a deeply personal touch. The commitment to dignity, compassion, and excellence remains unchanged. Whether families require immediate assistance, pre-planning, or grief support, the dedicated professionals at Boucher and Pritchard are there to guide them every step of the way, honoring the past while embracing the future of funeral service.
