About

Ted Dickey Funeral Home, located at 2128 18th Street in Plano, Texas, has served the community with compassion and professionalism for over five decades. With an outstanding Google rating of 4.9 based on 233 reviews, this family-owned funeral home has built a reputation for exceptional care and personalized service. Founded in 1970 when Ted and Carolyn Dickey purchased the former Harrington Funeral Home, they renamed it and quickly became trusted neighbors in the growing Plano area.

The history of Ted Dickey Funeral Home stretches back even further to 1892, when Andrew Wetzel and E.O. Harrington partnered to supply caskets, couches, and ambulance services from a furniture store. The undertaking activities were conducted in office space above the store. Eventually, the mortuary, known as E.O. Harrington Undertaking Company, moved to a house on 15th Street, where a 125-seat chapel and viewing room were added, creating Harrington Funeral Home. After the Dickeys took over in 1970, they opened a new 7,200-square-foot mortuary in east Plano at 18th and Jupiter in 1974, across from Plano Mutual Cemetery, which still serves today. As Plano grew, they opened a second location, Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, off the President George Bush Turnpike.

Today, Ted Dickey Funeral Home is a member of the Dignity Memorial network, offering the warm, local care of an independent establishment along with the benefits of North America's largest funeral service provider. The funeral home provides a full range of services, including traditional burial, cremation, and personalized celebrations of life. They emphasize flexibility and creativity, accommodating anything from a basic cremation with a meaningful scattering to an elaborate event with live music, favorite foods, and unique mementos. The onsite chapel and wheelchair-accessible facilities ensure comfort for all visitors.

Services include burial and cremation options, with transparent pricing available both online and in person. They offer prepayment plans with up to 10% off, along with lifetime flexibility and relocation protection for transfers to other qualifying Dignity Memorial providers. The funeral home also provides bereavement travel assistance, helping families with airline, hotel, and rental car arrangements during difficult times. For those in immediate need, staff are available 24/7, and they welcome drop-ins during business hours.

The funeral home is proud to serve its community as a member of the Plano Chamber of Commerce and the Allen/Fairview Chamber of Commerce.
