Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home

306 East Polk St., Burnet, TX 78611

About

Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home has been a cornerstone of the Burnet, Texas, community since the 1930s, when Waddell Northington purchased an undertaking company from Lampasas Furniture Company. Initially located on the east side of the town square, the business later moved to its current address at 306 East Polk Street, where it remains today. Soon after the move, Waddell hired Gene Clements, and together they expanded services to include ambulance transportation, using the hearse not only for funeral duties but also to carry the sick and injured to the local hospital. In 1949, Gene Clements bought the business and added a 250-seat chapel, continuing both the ambulance service and funeral operations until his retirement twenty years later. In 1969, Bill and Janice Wilcox purchased the funeral home and renamed it Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. They further extended their reach by opening a second location in Marble Falls in 1975. In approximately 1980, the city of Burnet took over the ambulance service, allowing the funeral home to focus entirely on its core mission. Today, nearly ninety years after its founding, the dedicated team at Clements-Wilcox continues to serve its friends and neighbors with unwavering compassion and professionalism.

The funeral home offers a wide array of personalized funeral and memorial services. Its chapel can accommodate more than 250 guests, making it suitable for both intimate gatherings and larger services. The team specializes in creating unique celebrations of life that reflect each individual's personality, whether that includes a traditional religious rite, a contemporary gathering with live music and favorite foods, a Texas-themed funeral with barbecue and boots, or an afternoon ice cream social. Cremation options are also extensive, ranging from direct cremation without a service to a full funeral with witnessed cremation. The staff provides clear guidance on every step, ensuring families understand all available choices.
