Originally founded as Taylor-Hill Furniture and Undertaking by Henry Hill, F.G. Ludwig, and Seth S. Taylor, the business was situated east of the courthouse on 7th Street. In 1913, Seth S. Taylor purchased the firm and was later joined by his brother, Frank Shaw Taylor. The furniture and undertaking operation continued to evolve, with a branch opening in Palacios, Texas in 1932. The furniture business separated from the funeral home in 1952, with Frank Shaw Taylor, his wife Frances, and their sons Vann Shaw and Don Jean taking ownership. Over the decades, the funeral home moved multiple times before settling into a spacious, columned building at its current address in 1979. That building, featuring beautiful stained glass windows, a chapel seating 250-plus, multiple reposing rooms, and a family conference room, served families for decades. In 2021, a devastating fire destroyed the facility. Demonstrating resilience and unwavering commitment to the community, the family rebuilt on the same site, opening the doors of a modern, welcoming new facility in March 2024. Taylor Bros.
