The Holley family expanded to a second location in Columbia in the 1930s. Following the passing of founder William S. Holley, his sons William and John P. Holley Sr. continued the legacy as the second generation. In 1955, John P. Holley Sr. renamed the business JP Holley Funeral Home. The third generation, John P. Holley Jr., opened the Garners Ferry location in 1992, which now serves as the parent facility. The fourth generation, Jonathan P. Holley, joined the family business in 2002 as a manager assistant and student of mortuary science. Under his leadership, the funeral home acquired Gates of Heaven Cemetery in 2012 to offer burial plots to families in need, established the JP Holley Crematory in 2017 as a centennial contribution, and opened the Bishopville Chapel in 2018. In 2021, the family expanded further with a fourth location in Columbia.
