His sons, John and Boyd McIlvaine, joined the family business in the mid-1960s. In the mid-1970s, they purchased the Simcox Funeral Home in Lansdale from Hillary Simcox, who had established his own funeral business in 1940. This merger created the Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home, combining two proud heritages under one roof.

Today, the funeral home continues to be operated by the McIlvaine family. Boyd McIlvaine, Sr. studied at Eckels College of Mortuary Science and is a graduate of LaSalle College High School and LaSalle University. His son, Boyd McIlvaine, Jr., studied at the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York City after attending Catholic University. Boyd Jr. joined the family business in 2001 and took on a supervisory role following the passing of his uncle John in 2002. Kathleen McIlvaine, wife of Boyd Sr., also contributed to the business from 1991 until her passing in 2007.
