The history of Molalla Funeral Chapel dates back to approximately 1900, when James F. and Mary Adams operated a coffin store at the corner of Molalla Avenue and Main Street—the founding commercial node of what is now downtown Molalla, historically known as Four Corners, the intersection of two Native American trails where the community first grew. In 1909, Harvey Everhart took over the business from the Adams family, establishing the funeral home that would operate continuously under family ownership for most of a century. After Harvey's death in 1954, his son Elton Everhart assumed ownership and expanded operations to include a second location in Canby under the partnership name Everhart & Kent Funeral Home. The Everhart family owned and operated the business until 1997. The current name, Molalla Funeral Chapel, has been in use since 1993. The business has been trusted by Portland families since 1909, reflecting a long-standing commitment to serving the community with dignity and care.
