Founded in 1947 by Jim “Boom” Cannan, a decorated World War II Air Force pilot, and his wife Norma, the funeral home originally opened its doors at 2397 Seneca Street in Buffalo with a mission to provide compassionate, affordable, and dignified funeral services to families in South Buffalo and the First Ward. For over seven decades, the Cannan family has remained dedicated to this founding principle, treating every family with the same care and respect they would offer their own. In 1981, Jim and Norma's son, Patrick Cannan, joined the business, eventually taking ownership alongside his wife Pat. To better serve the growing needs of the community, the family expanded in 1997 by opening a second location at 3155 Orchard Park Road in Orchard Park, NY. Today, this location stands as a warm and welcoming facility designed to provide comfort during difficult times, featuring wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking to accommodate all families. The family legacy continues with the third generation: Patrick and Pat’s son, Sean Cannan, joined the funeral home in 2010 after graduating from Clemson University and completing his studies at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.
