Smolarek—who graduated first in his class from the Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse in 1959—the business was built on a foundation of tireless dedication, compassion, and a commitment to providing outstanding funeral service. Dan and his wife Pat opened their first location on historic Broadway at the Cheektowaga-Buffalo city line, offering convenient access to families in Buffalo, Cheektowaga-Sloan, and neighboring suburbs.

As the business grew, a second, brand-new facility was built on Union Road in Cheektowaga, near the West Seneca and Depew borders. This elegant, centrally located funeral home expanded the Smolarek tradition of personalized, family-focused care. Today, the tradition continues with the next generation: sons Daniel L. Smolarek (President/Licensed Director) and Scott Smolarek, who uphold the family ideals, principles, and attention to detail that families have come to expect.
