About
Burroughs Funeral Home has been a pillar of the Walnut Cove, North Carolina community since its founding in August 1941. Established by Ivey R. Burroughs, Elizabeth N. Burroughs, and Luther Fowler, the funeral home originally operated out of the Burroughs family residence in downtown Walnut Cove. In 1962, Ray Burroughs joined the family business and purchased Mr. Fowler's interest. The funeral home relocated to its current location at 1382 NC Highway 65 West in October 1972, though Ray Burroughs passed away in March of that year before the new building was completed. His son and wife carried on the business, later joined by Ray's daughter Anita in 1982 and his son Bart in 1986. In 1994, Ray and Elizabeth Burroughs retired, and the funeral home was acquired by Forbis and Dick, a respected family of funeral homes. Ray Burroughs passed away in 2000, and Elizabeth in 2002, but their legacy of compassionate service endures.
Today, Burroughs Funeral Home remains dedicated to providing service second to none, delivered with compassion and professionalism that exceeds expectations. The funeral home offers a comprehensive range of services including traditional funeral services, cremation options, pre-planning arrangements, veteran's services, permanent memorialization, honor life tributes, and grief and healing support.
