About

Kennedy Funeral Home, located at 241 North Middleton Street in Robbins, North Carolina, has been a cornerstone of compassionate funeral service in Moore County since its founding in 1913 by the late Walter Kennedy. The funeral home originally operated on Rockingham Street before relocating to its current site in the historic former Arrowhead dormitory, once part of the old Elise Academy. Walter Kennedy's son, Wayland, was born the year the funeral home moved, and he grew up immersed in the business, eventually following his calling into funeral service. After graduating from Elise Academy, Wayland attended Gupton-Jones School of Embalming in Nashville, Tennessee, and returned to Robbins in 1935 to manage the family firm. In 1938, he married Wylene Stutts, who had moved from Newport News, Virginia, to attend Elise Academy. Together, Wayland and Wylene dedicated their lives to serving the Robbins community, with Wayland working until his health declined, often greeting locals from the porch of the funeral home. Over the decades, Kennedy Funeral Home formed a close partnership with Fry and Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage. The two businesses supported each other, covering services during vacations and working together seamlessly. When Wayland passed away in 1996, Wylene continued ownership, maintaining the Kennedy heritage alongside her trusted staff and friends at Fry and Prickett. She worked tirelessly until her own passing in June 2007. Later that year, Tommy Prickett and Robert Nunnaley purchased Kennedy Funeral Home, ensuring the legacy established by the Kennedy family endured. Today, managing funeral director Randy Hussey and office assistant and insurance agent Beth Robinson, who together have over 45 years of combined service to the funeral home, continue to provide the same compassionate, personalized care that has defined Kennedy Funeral Home for more than a century. The funeral home offers a full range of services, including traditional burial, cremation, and memorial services. Families may choose from premium, standard, and basic caskets, as well as urns and personalized markers and monuments. Pre-planning and grief assistance are available to help families navigate difficult times. The facility is wheelchair accessible with an accessible entrance and parking lot, and on-site parking is provided. Kennedy Funeral Home has earned heartfelt praise from families, who consistently commend the staff's professionalism, kindness, and unwavering support. Whether coordinating a simple farewell or a more elaborate ceremony, the dedicated team at Kennedy Funeral Home remains committed to guiding families through their grief journey with respect, dignity, and genuine care, honoring the deep-rooted traditions established by the Kennedy family over a century ago.
