Briggs Funeral Home, a division of J. Briggs, Inc., is a family-owned and operated funeral home serving the Piedmont and Sandhills regions of North Carolina. With deep roots in the community, the business is owned by Jack and Joan Briggs, with their son Daniel actively involved. The home office is based in Denton, with additional locations in Candor and a proud history of service in Troy. The family also operates Rex Furniture Company and Mountain View Memorial Gardens, a perpetual care cemetery in Denton. In addition to their funeral homes, the Briggs family co-owns and operates several other funeral home companies throughout the region, as well as a crematory in Lexington that serves all of their locations.

The Denton Chapel, located at 103 East Salisbury Street, is housed in the historic J. O. Garner residence, which was built in 1915. The funeral home business moved into this location in 1937, and the facility has undergone many changes and additions since that time. Today, the Denton Chapel is a spacious facility capable of handling three visitations simultaneously, with a chapel that seats 140 people. The Candor Chapel, built in 1988 after many years in downtown Candor, was designed to accommodate large visitations. It features chapel seating for 110 people with overflow seating in adjoining parlors. The Candor building was designed for easy access with only two steps leading to a large front porch, which also includes a ramp. The building was enlarged in 2003 and now has an attached portico for the convenience of families.
