Fortin sold his interest to shareholders Raymond Duprez, Denis Croteau, and Roger Bouffard, with Raymond A. Perreault joining in 1985. A significant merger occurred in 1992, when Fortin Funeral Directors combined with Plummer & Merrill & Teague Funeral Homes, forming The Fortin Group with locations in both Lewiston and Auburn.
