Founded in 2009 in Saint Amant by David Singletary and Alvin Villeneuve—two lifelong Ascension Parish residents and dedicated funeral professionals—the business was born from a recognized need for affordable, quality funeral and cremation services in the region. The name "Church" was chosen because all services were originally performed at the family's place of worship or chosen venue. In response to the growing preference for cremation, the founders established their own on-site crematory, ensuring families receive respectful, cost-effective care without outsourcing. The business quickly expanded, opening an arrangement office in Baton Rouge in 2011 and another in Walker in 2013. After Alvin's passing in 2016 and David's retirement, Church Funeral Services & Crematory merged with Silver Lining Funeral Services, operated by brothers Greg and Mike Clark. Mike had been with the company since 2014, and together the Clarks continue the founders' legacy of exceptional, affordable, family-focused care.
