Bevil Bros. Funeral Homes, Inc. has served the Beaver Dam, Kentucky, community for over a century, tracing its roots to 1915 when Edgar F. Duke founded the Duke Funeral Home in Dundee. Following Edgar’s death in 1956, his sons Hugh E. Duke Sr., Hugh E. Duke Jr., and Thomas B. Duke expanded operations, adding a Centertown chapel in 1962 and acquiring the Birkhead Funeral Home in Hartford in 1966. In 1986, the business was purchased by Larry and Kathy Bevil and Jerry and Judy Bevil, becoming Duke-Bevil Funeral Home and later Bevil Bros. Funeral Homes, Inc. The funeral home opened a state-of-the-art facility in Beaver Dam in 2000, featuring two spacious chapels, a kitchen, and a lounge area. After a fire destroyed the Hartford chapel in 2012, operations were consolidated to the Beaver Dam location. In March 2025, after more than 40 years of ownership, the Bevils retired, selling the business to Ohio County native John Hill, who continues the tradition of compassionate, family-centered service.
