About
Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home is a family-owned and operated funeral service provider proudly serving the communities of Nappanee and Wakarusa, Indiana, for nearly four decades. With locations at 501 North Elkhart Street in Wakarusa and a second facility in Nappanee, the funeral home offers compassionate, hometown care to families during their most difficult times. Founded on a legacy of trust and community service, the business was purchased from Carl and Wavy Yoder in 1983 by Larry and Linda Thompson. In 1998, they expanded to serve Wakarusa, ensuring that families in both towns have access to personalized, professional funeral services close to home.
The funeral home provides a comprehensive range of services designed to honor the lives of loved ones. These include traditional funerals, cremation services, memorial services, and pre-arrangement planning. Additionally, Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder offers a gift shop, NorthWoods Monuments for memorialization, and resources for veterans, grief support, and funeral etiquette. The facility is wheelchair accessible with on-site parking, ensuring that all families can comfortably attend services.
Larry and Linda Thompson, both graduates of NorthWood High School, have deep roots in the community. Larry served five terms as Mayor of Nappanee, was a member of the Nappanee Fire Department, Nappanee Park Department, and Wa-Nee Community Schools Board of Education, and has been involved with the Kiwanis Club and American Red Cross for over 50 years. Linda has contributed through Psi Iota Xi sorority and the Nappanee Home & Garden Club. Their children, Tara Lengacher and Patrick Thompson, along with their spouses, are licensed funeral directors who continue the family’s caring legacy. Patrick and his wife Jen have become ownership partners, ensuring the funeral home remains a trusted neighbor for generations to come.
Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home is dedicated to providing compassionate guidance, sound advice, and personal services that reflect the values of the communities it serves. Whether families need immediate assistance or wish to plan ahead, the staff is committed to being there every step of the way.
