The business was established by Earle Rainwater, a native of Loudon, Tennessee, whose career in funeral service began in May 1964 when he joined J.D. Hill Funeral Home in Summerville. A graduate of the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science, he holds licenses both as a Funeral Director and an Embalmer. For 48 years, Rainwater also served as the Coroner of Chattooga County, making him the longest-serving coroner in Georgia at the time of his retirement in 2024. His deep roots in the community are reflected in his prior roles as President of the Summerville Cemetery Corporation and President of the Summerville-Trion Optimist Club, as well as board membership with the Independent Funeral Directors of Georgia and membership in numerous professional associations including the Georgia Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, Georgia Coroners Association, and Trion Lodge #160 F&AM.

The funeral home is located at 10351 Commerce Street in Summerville, at the very site where Rainwater’s career began. To honor his mentor, he named the on-site chapel the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel. The chapel seats approximately 125 guests, with additional overflow areas equipped with audio and video feeds from the main service. Four visitation parlors provide intimate spaces for family gatherings, and a covered entryway offers protection from inclement weather.
