Baynard recognized the need for a modern memorial chapel with its own crematory, and by 1937, the crematory became operational—the only one in the St. Petersburg and Tampa Bay region at the time. In 1949, Baynard partnered with Paul E. Thompson, transforming the facility into a full-service funeral home, crematory, and ambulance service, and renaming it Baynard-Thompson Beach Memorial Chapel. After an acquisition in 1983, it became Beach Memorial Chapel.
