The family’s history began in Havana, Cuba, where Polito Rivero established Rivero Funeral Homes in 1948, building it into one of the largest funeral homes on the island. After the business was seized by the communist government in 1963, the Rivero family exiled to Miami and reopened Rivero Funeral Homes in 1965, eventually expanding to three locations. When that business was sold in 1994, the family returned to their roots with Maspons Funeral Home, which has since grown to two locations and become one of the highest-volume funeral homes in the area.
