In 1970, longtime employees William Leland James and James N. Lipford Jr. partnered to purchase Maddox Funeral Home, renaming it James & Lipford Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. The partnership expanded in 1973 to include the former Mitchell Funeral Home in Graceville, and soon after, the Sneads Chapel was established. Following the death of Mr. Lipford in 1988, the partnership dissolved and the name changed to James & James Funeral Homes Maddox Chapel. In 1997, Christopher Sikes joined as manager and later purchased the funeral homes, resulting in the current name: James & Sikes Funeral Homes, Maddox Chapel and Sneads Chapel.
