Davis Mortuary, located at 128 Broadway Avenue in Pueblo, Colorado, has been a trusted pillar of the community since its founding in 1905. Established by A. Ray Davis, the mortuary was originally situated in downtown Pueblo before relocating to its current Mesa Junction location following the devastating flood of 1921. For over a century, the funeral home has provided compassionate, professional services to families in Pueblo and the surrounding southern Colorado region. After Mr. Davis passed the business to his son, Elwin Davis, the mortuary continued its tradition of personal care and community service. In 1971, Davis Mortuary became the first funeral home in southern Colorado to offer on-site cremation services with the addition of a crematory, meeting the growing need for dignified cremation options. The business was purchased in 1989 by brothers Brian and Chris Cotter, who were raised in Trinidad, Colorado. The Cotters brought with them the 'old school' values of personalized, family-oriented care that they learned from their father, who owned and operated several funeral homes across Kansas, Nebraska, and southern Colorado. Today, Davis Mortuary remains locally owned and operated, a rare distinction in an era of large corporate chains. The funeral home is housed in a historic building whose upper two floors are home to Pueblo’s three Masonic lodges and their affiliated organizations, reflecting a deep connection to the community’s heritage and civic life. Davis Mortuary offers a comprehensive range of services to meet the diverse needs of the families it serves.
