About
Calvary Cemetery and Mortuary (FD 1681) is one of the oldest and largest cemeteries in Los Angeles, located at 4201 Whittier Boulevard, just minutes from the heart of the city. This sacred ground, operated under the auspices of Catholic Cemeteries & Mortuaries, offers a tranquil and reverence-filled environment for families to honor their loved ones. The rolling parkland is adorned with the Stations of the Cross, placed at intervals along the main drive, which are prayed on Sundays during Lent and in November, reflecting a deep commitment to faith and tradition.
The mortuary, an expansive 18,000-square-foot facility, provides a comforting and dignified setting for funeral services. It features three large visitation rooms, four private arrangement rooms, a visitors' lounge, and a flower shop, ensuring that families have ample space and resources to gather and remember. The Calvary Mausoleum is a highlight, adorned with beautiful stained glass and hand-painted ceilings, and it is here that daily Mass is celebrated, offering a sacred space for worship and prayer. The skyline is notably marked by the All Souls Chapel, an ornate Gothic church with a gabled tower and steeple, adding to the historic and spiritual ambiance.
