St. Michael Cemetery & Funeral Center, located at 3885 East Avenue in Livermore, California, is a cherished institution serving the Tri-Valley area and the broader Catholic community of the Diocese of Oakland. Established in 1880 for local parishioners, the cemetery has a rich history spanning over 140 years. In 1999, the Diocese of Oakland Catholic Cemeteries assumed responsibility, expanding services to more fully minister to the faithful. Today, St. Michael’s offers a comprehensive range of end-of-life services, including traditional funerals, cremation, and cemetery interments, all delivered with compassion and reverence.

The cemetery grounds encompass a peaceful 15-acre property, featuring developed areas for ground burials, with newer sections like Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Michael’s. The St. Michael’s section includes a columbarium for cremated remains, while the Our Lady of the Rosary Urn Garden provides additional burial space for cremated remains. In 2013, new garden crypts were added, offering traditional above-ground entombment options. With over 2,000 committal services conducted throughout its history, St. Michael’s provides a variety of choices: traditional ground burial, cremation niches, mausoleum crypts, and family estates.

Beyond burial services, St. Michael’s operates as a full-service funeral center, offering immediate need assistance and advanced planning. The dedicated staff—including executive director Randy Moore, assistant directors, family service advisors, and funeral assistants—provides personalized guidance. The facility is wheelchair accessible, with accessible entrances and parking. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The cemetery grounds are open daily with seasonal hours, and burials are conducted Monday through Saturday.

St. Michael’s is part of Catholic Funeral & Cemetery Services (CFCS), which operates multiple locations across the Diocese of Oakland. CFCS offers special programs to support the community: the Pastoral Care Program provides prayer and comfort to bereaved families; the All Souls Remembrance Program offers free dignified committal of cremated remains; the Mother Teresa Program ensures sacred services for those in need; the Family Heritage Program allows families to transform existing graves into family estates; and the Precious Lives Program provides support for families who have lost a child. A memorial mass is held on the first Saturday of each month.
